Honey Garlic Shrimp

Servings: 2–3
Prep time: 5–10 min
Cook time: 10 min

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or butter)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped green onions or parsley, for garnish
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp
    • Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the shrimp
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add shrimp and cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the honey garlic sauce
    • In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Stir in honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar (plus red pepper flakes if using).
    • Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Combine shrimp and sauce
    • Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sauce. Cook for another 1–2 minutes to heat through.
  5. Serve
    • Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley.
    • Serve immediately over rice, quinoa, or noodles.

💡 Tips:

  • For a stickier glaze, add 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water to the sauce before adding the shrimp back in.
  • You can also add vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli for a one-pan meal.
