Cook time: 10 min
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp olive oil (or butter)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Chopped green onions or parsley, for garnish
- Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the shrimp
- Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Cook the shrimp
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add shrimp and cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Make the honey garlic sauce
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar (plus red pepper flakes if using).
- Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Combine shrimp and sauce
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sauce. Cook for another 1–2 minutes to heat through.
- Serve
- Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley.
- Serve immediately over rice, quinoa, or noodles.
💡 Tips:
- For a stickier glaze, add 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water to the sauce before adding the shrimp back in.
- You can also add vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli for a one-pan meal.
